  • Always the right choice

Until now you have had to choose between microphones optimised for either free or diffuse sound fields. Compromises could risk errors of 10dB at 20kHz. Now you don’t have to predict the sound field as a single multi-field microphone can cover many measuring scenarios that would otherwise require different conventional microphones.

Error-free measurements in the random real world

Sound-fields often change, and are normally hard to predict. They are also rarely either free or diffuse, but made up of an unpredictable mix of the two. This is the only microphone that is truly ready for that.

The huge margin for error that this affords means that unskilled operators can be sure to get the correct measurements and avoid discovering later on that the setup was wrong.

    Revolutionary performance

Because it is so small, its response is uniform in virtually any sound field – even at high frequencies. Being a ¼″ condenser microphone with the high sensitivity and low noise-floor of a ½″ condenser microphone, it is less influenced by the nature of the sound-field, and less sensitive to the angle of incidence.

  • Multi-field Microphone measurement in a car

    The fastest microphone to use

The multi-field microphone is less sensitive to the angle it is placed at than a conventional ½” microphone, so it is easy to position when you set up your measurements, saving technicians valuable time in planning, setting up and analysing results.
  • Multi-field Microphone and LAN-XI measurement of a harddisk

    The simplest setup

The multi-field microphone automatically self-identifies when you connect it to your measurement front-end via a single cable - using TEDS technology. This saves time by synchronising data such as calibration information, so manual inputs are eliminated.

Remote verification of the entire measurement channel is easy using Charge Injection Calibration (CIC) to self-test the setup.
