Objectives:
To introduce electroacoustic measurement of telephones, mobile phones and other devices with telephone functions.
Description:
This course introduces the general concept of electroacoustic measurements on telephones. Analogue, digital, cellular, VOIP and similar telephone devices each have unique characteristics that require special techniques for measurement, and these will be briefly explained. Handset, headset and handsfree (speakerphone) functions will be included.
A few of the most important electroacoustic measurements will be described, as well as how to apply them to the measurements of various telephone devices. Some of the methods specified in the ITU-T (formerly CCITT), ETSI, IEEE, TIA standards will be introduced.
Selection and use of mouth and ear simulators will be introduced.
For further information, references will be made to selected parts of the 3-day Bruel & Kjaer course “Electroacoustic Measurements on Telephones.”
Prerequisites:
Knowledge of fundamental sound measurement.
Participants:
Engineers, technical managers and engineering technicians working in design, R&D, QC or production line testing, within the telecommunications industry.
